what’s going on around here?

I kinda fell off the grid for a few days there – sorry about that. You know, because I’m sure you’ve all been sitting around everyday wondering WHEN you’ll get to read a new blog post from me, right?

Right?

So anyway, it’s been an eventful past few days. Just to catch you up to speed, here are the Cliff’s Notes:

The Main Event was that our little Olivia had surgery. It was a minor procedure to remove an extra bit of cartilage from her ear, but it was still nerve-racking for the parental units.

She was amazing, though. So brave. Afterwards she said, “It’s funny, I went to sleep giggling and woke up happy!” The resiliency of children never ceases to amaze me.

Her surgery was done at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Man-o-man do these guys know how to do it right when it comes to kids. Olivia’s special lovey – Bun-Bun – was a “patient” too, complete with ID bracelet. She even got her own “sleepy air” mask and got to stay with O the whole time. Cool, right?

The other thing that’s been going on, which is nowhere near as fun as the antics of a stuffed bunny, is that I went and got myself a good ol’ fashioned sinus infection. Oh, for the joy of congestion. Wow, those things know how to knock a girl out.

Nothing a few days or 10 of antibiotics can’t fix, but I’ve had no energy to do anything the past few days that even remotely resembles exercising. Or crawling out of bed.

And for the first time in my life, that freaks me out. What if all the momentum I’ve had with exercising and eating right has been completely thwarted by a bacterial freeloader that is determined to sap my last bit of energy?

And of course, all bets are off when it comes to eating right when you feel like crap. My mind wants to do the right thing, but all my body wants is toast for lunch and popcorn for dinner.

I’m determined to stay on track, though, and…..

Tomorrow is a new day!

Those damn sinus infections are the worst! Poor you, mama! But don’t you worry. You are rocking this whole eating well and exercising thing! You got this.

Give sweet O a squeeze for me. What a brave girlie.

I was missing you! Glad your little lady is ok and you get well soon. Exercise isn’t going anywhere, though it can be scary to have to let go for a while. I get that.

any hospital visit always freaks me out! parenting lets us get confronted by all that stuff, doesn’t it (hopefully not toooo often). once your energy comes back, your body will be nagging you to get moving again. it WILL. so rest while you need to.

Happy you’re back! Unlike your darling daughter, looks like little Bun Bun is having trouble coming out of anesthesia! Hope you’re feeling better soon!

Glad to have you back Melisa! And, so happy Olivia’s surgery went well. I think anything involving general anesthesia is scary!

Hope those antibiotics are kicking some butt! Have some chicken soup – that would be on track :)

She is so cute I can’t stand it. And Bun-Bun, my heart. So glad she bounced right back and hope you are soon on the mend.

Thanks, my friend. Oh, for the love of Bun-Bun. That little critter has been with her since birth. She has never slept a night without it, and don’t tell her this but we even bought a BACK-UP and wash it in stride with Bun-Bun #1 so they are worn equally. The back-up’s name is BUB, but let’s keep that on the DL, okay?

I’m glad you are feeling better. Carbs and calories don’t count when your baby is in the hospital and you are sick. Or so I’ve heard. :)
